Support Shawn’s Road to Recovery
On behalf of Virginia Hoop League, we have launched this GoFundMe to rally our basketball community around friends who need us right now. It’s time for us to show what a strong community we are and show up for our brother in ball, Shawn Sanders. Every contribution—big or small—helps and is greatly appreciated. If you are not in a position to contribute monetarily, sharing this is just as helpful. All proceeds are going directly to Shawn.
“My son Shawn was recently in a terrible accident—one that should have been fatal. Thanks to the incredible efforts of his medical team, he has survived, but his journey is far from over. Shawn has already endured multiple surgeries just to keep him stable, and there are still more ahead. He is still in the ICU, and we don’t know how long he will remain there. Even after he is released from intensive care, Shawn will face a long road to healing and will be unable to work or fully care for himself for some time.
As his mother, I have been by his side every step of the way. I’ve had to take time off work to care for Shawn, and the costs are quickly adding up. We are facing mounting medical bills, legal fees, and lost wages for both of us. The uncertainty of what lies ahead is overwhelming, but I am determined to do everything I can to support my son through this difficult time.
